Proposals for short talks using a range of comparative and theoretical approaches to literature, cinema, digital and networked culture, visual culture and transmedia, including media archaeology, critical making and comparative media studies, are welcome all throughout Winter 2022.</p>\r\n<p>Workshops and roundtables will take place regularly until the conference planned for June 24, 2022. "content_html": "<p>For some years now, there has been talk of a \"new materialism\". Criticizing the idea of Aristotelian metaphysics which opposes form to matter, this current - if it is one - tries to return to the materiality of thinking: there is no form without matter, matter makes form, or even better, matter is form. To say it with Karen Barad: \"matter matters\". This means in particular that text is also always an inscribed text. A certain ideality of the notion of text such as it has circulated in the post-structuralist tradition is thus put to shame. Thinking is always an inscription, a text is always an inscription. There are therefore no neutral tools in the hands of a thinking mind. Tools, protocols, algorithms, formats… think. How do they think? What do they think?</p><p>\r\n \r\nBased in particular on the example of textual writing formats, I will try to show this fusion between technique and thinking and its cultural and political consequences. "content_html": "<p>This will then be a question of intermediality between video games and digital literature.</br>Video games and digital literature are close: the two fields of study share the same media, quite similar techniques, often common platforms and similar narrative systems. The same is true with materiality, fundamental in the experience of a work. Here again, whether it is digital literature or video games, these materialities are extremely close: same supports, same controllers, etc. In my thesis, I question the relevance of building a corpus in one of these two fields, looking for definitions for each. I wish to discuss the possible establishment of a continuum between the two, and beyond the gaze that is cast on the work, I intend to establish criteria for qualifying works as \"more\" literary or \"more\" videogame.</p>",

Inside, Outside</a> aims to \r\nto explore both through theory and through an artistic practice the modes of \r\nthe modes of expression opened by the use of teleconference interfaces and their \r\nteleconference interfaces and their relationship to informational virality. It \r\nis part of the continuity of the conference \"<a href=\"http://www.virusland.org/colloque/\">Confinement, virality \r\nand forms of life</a>\" which was held \r\nNovember 26 and 27, 2020 at La Générale and online on p-node radio.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>While performance art is traditionally associated with the \r\nthe constitution of a co-presence of the artist and the spectators or even has the \r\nto accentuate such modes of co-presence, teleconferencing \r\ninterfaces of teleconference cross a spatial distance that it is no longer \r\nis no longer possible to want to erase, and different temporal shifts, to the \r\neven to the point of reminding it sometimes in their dysfunctions, like \r\ndysfunctions, following the example of Dan Graham's Delay Rooms. Indeed, \r\ncontrary to the fantasy of the immediacy of a perpetual present that \r\nwould allow the diffusion in real time, the interfaces, as soon as they appear in \r\nthat they appear in the phenomenological space, forbid us to ignore the \r\nto ignore the difference and its specters. "content_html": "<p>Writes and Whispers, the title refers to a famous Ingmar Bergman film, \"Cries and Whispers,\" in which four women, in a nineteenth-century manor house, stand on the border between life and illness, expectation and oblivion, reality and dream. These multiple, plural borders, perpetually reiterated within the narrative space, concern us all, insofar as the identities and different territories we inhabit position us in a liminal space that constantly calls for being redefined. Emerging research in comparative literature takes the weight of this uncertainty as the starting point of its thinking. Writings and whispers, therefore, it is the passage of the silence of the writing - which is also revolutionary, intimate, compact cry - to the heard, pronounced word, which circumscribes by its tenuousness\r\n the fragile circle of its secret. It is in this perspective where we will pass from writing to the transmitted word, and while being sometimes uncertain of where we are, that the conference will be organized. We will deal with these questions through these places of plastic inscriptions that are images, bodies, places, writing, translation and memory.</p>",

"content_html": "<p>Michael Sinatra, Director of CRIHN, invites you to the first Stéfan Sinclair-CRIHN Lecture to be held on Monday, December 13 at the Carrefour des Arts et des Sciences of the Université de Montréal in the presence of Frédéric Bouchard, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the Université de Montréal and Mary Hunter, Dean of the Faculty of Arts of McGill University.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Named in honor of Stéfan Sinclair, who was a founding member of CRIHN in 2013, this first annual lecture will be given by Kim Martin, Assistant Professor of History at the University of Guelph, and will be followed in the afternoon by a roundtable discussion on the impact of Stéfan's work.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>The event will be attended on campus (with due regard for the health measures in place) and will be simulcast online.
