Workshop on Peer Review
Review? Peer review? Open review?
What exactly does peer review involve, and what does it mean to make this process open? This interactive workshop will introduce the main forms of scholarly and open peer review, as well as an overview of practices adopted by Canadian journals.
Participants will reflect on the value and actual costs of peer review, the concept of a “peer,” and the benefits and challenges of making peer review more open. They will also examine the limitations of traditional peer review and the responses that open review can offer.
The workshop is intended for researchers, authors, reviewers, editorial team members, and anyone who reads or engages with scholarly content.
This event is organized as part of Open Access Week 2026.
